OT: Surfrider's Paddle for Clean Water is Sunday at 9:30 am

So this is totally off topic, but I want to encourage all surfers on this board to come out tomorrow morning to join Surfrider's 16th Annual Paddle For Clean Water.

And actually, you don't have to be a surfer, we encourage any ocean/beach enthusiast to join us. You will just need something to paddle around the pier on. Kayak, boogie board, dingy, whatever!

Get there early because parking will fill up early. We have free bagels and coffee for everyone.

If you've never attended one of these, it's pretty cool to see 500 surfers all descend on the water at one time and paddle around the OB pier.

Afterwards we have a Post Paddle Party this year, with beer from Stone. A bunch of local bands will be playing all afternoon too.

If you come down, please come find me and introduce yourself. It won't be hard because everyone at Surfrider knows me.

I'm paddling out tomorrow morning Belinda. I've talked to several friends and neighbors here in OB and a lot of people are planning to participate. I think you'll get pretty big numbers tomorrow.

Kudos for your efforts for such a worthy cause.

We're anticipating around 600-700, but you never know.

One year the event coincided with the Republican National Convention, and we had 1200 people show up.

If anyone does come on a boogie board, bring fins, because it's a long way around the pier.

Beer garden opens at noon. Stone beer is $4.00/cup. If you re-use your cup, it's $3! We think it's a nice incentive to conserve. If only all conservation efforts came with that incentive, no?
