OT: "V" TV Series Remakes.User Forum Topic
Submitted by flu on November 5, 2009 - 10:07pm
Wow. I grew up watching the original "V" series tv and I just found out ABC is showing a remake.... ..and...with commentary like this, I have got to see it..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_(2009_TV_series) As the original miniseries was inspired by the novel It Can't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis and has been called "a modern retelling of how the Nazis rose to power in Germany,"[3] the re-imagined series has been accused of being an allegory of the presidency of Barack Obama.[16][17][18] In his review of the show, Troy Patterson of Slate points out that bloggers and journalists had noticed parallels between the show's premise and the Barack Obama administration, and writes that "if the show is to have the symbolic import that we expect from a science-fiction story, this is the only possible way to read V as a coherent text."[16] Lisa de Moraes of The Washington Post noted in her review that the fact the series was debuting on the one-year anniversary of Obama's election "was not lost on some ... TV critics" and also remarked that the use of phrases present in the series (such as "hope", "change", and "Universal Health Care" being offered by the Visitors) made it seem as though "Lou Dobbs had taken over the network."[17]

FLU: That series is worth watching simply for Morena Baccarin (Anna). That girl is FINE. She was the Companion on the Joss Whedon series "Firefly".
Also, read Sinclair's "It Can't Happen Here" (1935) when you have a chance. Great line from that book: "When fascism comes to America, it'll be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross".

Along with Allan Tudyk, this show was lifting a lot from St Joss.
I am a leaf on the wind.
Also, I think I would go to Brazil just to meet Morenas people.
If they are anywhere near as smoking hot as her...
Politics shmolotics, the biggest waste of time I can think of. I was about to permanently ignore this thread because of the political overtones until allan and urban mentioned some of my favorite things, hot brazillian chicks, being one of them. I did an image search and yowsa!!! I still believe that Christina Hendricks is proof that a higher power exists because evoloution can't be that good. I also agree with Bill Simmons that the phrase "on a scale of one to ten" should be permanently changed to "on a scale of one to Christina Hendricks nude scene."
But Morena is in that same conversation of "permanent phrase changes."
So now if I find a genie in a bottle, my first two wishes are already allocated.

Dan: Whenever I forget why I love you, you crazy bastard, you remind me.
"Serenity" arcana! I love it. Shiny.
TG: Sadly, Christina (and her magnificent yabos) went and got married. Worse still, dude is a total gack.
I agree, though, that her body is proof of a God.
Dupe.
Fair enough, but I'll expect you to send one of them to my door about a month after you find that bottle, when you get tired of their shit.

yo-saf-bridge was my favorite-est character ever.
