OT-- Mr. Mortgage, Where Are You?

User Forum Topic

Anybody know what Mr. Mortgage (Mark Hanson of Fact Check Group) is up to these days? Over the last few months, he has posted anything from 2 to 5 times a month, but now it has been almost a month since he posted last.

I hope he is physically all right, just busy?

I've been wondering the same thing. Mr.Mortgage and OC renter had 2 of the more informative blogs.

You can find him at the above address. He seems to only post every two weeks or so and is past due. His last post was 7-19-09.

Maybe with the Government and the Fed constantly changing the natural order of the financial universe at every turn and in increasingly unexpected ways, he is too busy out shopping for real estate to be posting.

If inventory doesn't soar by Feb. I may just join him.

I just found his new web site:

www.mhanson.com

His latest blog was on 8/14.

It seems to me he realized he didnt have a viable business model and gave up. Maybe I'm wrong but thats what it looks like.

Maybe just branched out on his own.

Why wouldn't the old blog have a link to the new one?

Isnt it obvious? Am I the only one who can see this clearly? The wh%^Trs trying to make money on the way up were no more guilty than the ones trying to make it on the way down. Hey McFly, you still around?

You didn't pick up on my sarcasm? I know he reads this blog, I fired off a few barbs in the past and try to not start an all out battle beacuse it's bad for my karma, but I always compare his avid followers to religious zealots who want to hear what they want to hear.

If they are yearning for a new leader, maybe I can be of help, I'll give it the ole college try.

All houses will be foreclosed upon, tsuinami, tsuinami, blah, blah, everyone is underwater, government intervention will fail, you can buy a house in carmel valley or on the beach for 100k but even that will be knife catching, houses will be ten cents.

How'd I do?

I think you jumped the gun on calling the end of the recession, but I hope I am wrong on that one. Now go back to your going broke post and finish your rant.

What would I do without you Aecetia

You forgot lots of charts showing arrows pointing out obvious increases/decreases. I always like the arrows, as if somehow I wasnt able to figure out directions on a graph.

And I wont bag on the guy totally, some of his information was usefull in understanding what is happening and what wasnt. Your average person reading the news paper thinking prices are going up cause the median is going up could learn a thing or two, especially from some of his earlier work.
Our recient expereince with the bubble taught us how much people dont know Jack or Sh$% about real estate and how far alot of people will go to sell RE to those people. Someone on the opposite side will hopefully balance out the conversation alittle.

Ok, inventory is low, prices are coming up, Rich's chart has an inflection point where the second derivative is zero, and yet no one wants to call a bottom. I recognize this craziness, I've seen this before, ah yes it's called rationalization. We just passed a bottom, is it the lowest we will ever see? Maybe not, a bottom none the less.

Without me your life would be: "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short"... and boring, very boring. I am your foil. Because of me, you shine like a star.

don't mistake a plateau for a bottom.

certainly the fed is printing money like mad, but, there are an amazing load of defective mortgages still out there.

I agree and it is just a matter of time before people wake up.

The current Case-Shiller Index kind of put the kibosh on the doom, gloom and zombies walking the streets.

Hell, inflation/increasing interest rates will see to it that prices will continue to drop slowly then stagnate for another 10 years. See 1970's for details. Not the end of the world, just not 2003-2006 either.

Not again. Ugly clothes and ugly cars.

DWCAP, I agree with you, I was harsh, he had some good things to say when he was ringing the alarm bell, albeit years after it had been rung. It didn't happen as he said it would, he folded his tent, I'm a jerk for pointing that out. But you popped off on the arrows so if i were him I'd jump on you first, since you are clearly a bigger jerk than me because i need the arrows to point to graph directions and peaks. See what i did right there, I'm making you the slower water buffalo in case a lion shows up. This is so fun.

threadkiller, it may look like you just made a casual observation but you just called bottom, how come when I did it, I got four pages of crap and threadkiller gets one hit, is it his screen name? Should we cahnge it to thread"teflon"killer or are people afraid of you because the word "killer" is in your name and showtime is running all for seasons of dexter this summer? It's suspicious either way.

Haha, good observation there TG. I'd like to know as well, since I'm also one of those 4pager.

TG,
honest is not harsh. The guy gets boring and repetitive, and he does have a cult following of people who believe all that he says. I was just pointing out that is fall from grace was more recient than his original youtube posts. Right about the time he started to try to make this a buisness, he started to reduce his bowl movements and fill up.

I also had to point out the arrows, the guy seems to love them. "look, there is more than last month, so it is going up, up to the moon I say!"
Sorry, I had a boss screw me once with an arrow on a graph, and being screwed by an arrow was every bit as painful as it sounds. :) I am alittle touchy about it I guess. Maybe I should go restock up on KY or something, you know help out the economy alittle. Wouldnt want to be the slow bufflo cause of arrow chaffing.

If you stock up on ky, avoid the jelly, go with ky liquid, warming or standard, i especially reccommend the blue/purple his/hers combo that reacts when mixed, did I say that out loud? was that too personal? Why do i consider the warning label on the prescription about mixing with alcohol as a personal challenge?

His youtube days were the best, the blair witch lighting, the "I had too many redbulls" excitement, ah, the good ole days.

Oh comeon, I once organized a KY jelly wresling match between sorrorities ALA 'old school' and the jelly part was the fun part. Stuff stuck to EVERYTHING. I think id go with the jelly just for memories. :)
And that warning label is often just a formality (and to protect your liver, most def not a formality). I mean comeon, 'dont drive or operate heavy machinery when high on pain pills AND drunk'. Gee, who would have thunk it?
