OT: Looking for an education on the educational processUser Forum Topic
Submitted by bluemoon on January 3, 2009 - 10:59am
As I listen to the debate here regarding schools in the Scripps Ranch, Poway and San Dieguito School Districts and consider buying a home in one of these areas, I just have to honestly admit that I am clueless on what scores and measures to follow to determine the relative strength of elementary. Can someone here, familiar with the school rankings systems, provide me a "crash course" on what objective data to the follow, what they mean and what is considered a good score, and what websites I can find these scores and statistics? Optional information requested: How do you personally see the strength of schools in each of three areas mentioned. Thank you for your help!!

Obviously, a school w/ higher score is better.
Personally, I view Poway/San Dieguito to be in the same league and SR to be a little bit below. But you're splitting hair at this point and your kid's IQ will probably make a bigger difference. Also, I think a school that score slightly less, but have your full participation in educating your kid(s) will be better than a school that's the best, but you're too busy to participate.
