Hmm.. looked off tackle, not exactly yer traditional sweep, MT tried to take it outside.... but #55 was unaccounted for.. blown assignment? He made a living being quick to the hole,but, he gets just nicked a little on that play and I think MT scores.

Notice that Vrabel's leg-whip/trip that led to the first Rivers INT went COMPLETELY unnoticed, and uncommented upon?

NOt a Chargers fan, but i been living here going on 8 years and when my teams' out ( The Jets) I root for 'em.

I'm sorry Chargers fans... I promised I wouldn't watch the game to bring in my roll of bad luck lately. The only playoff game I watch happened to be today. Must have jinxed the game.

FLU as much as I would like to pin this on you and your run of bad luck I cannot. In fact this game gave the chargers more luck and ample opportunity than I would have ever imagined.

The bottom line is that unfortunately we have to pin this loss on our coaching staff. You CANNOT get to the opponents 10 yard line 4 times and come away with 12 points. Not against the Patriots, not against anyone. When we got into the red zone there was no imagination, we did not utilize the size of our receivers, we did not attempt any gadget plays such as a shovel pass or a quick pass, we did not even try any play action. It was so damn painful to watch. You cannot call a freeking timeout on 3rd and 1 and run off tackle and lose 2 yards. Sneak it on 3rd and sneak it on 4th and you get the friggin yard. The same repetitive crap may work in the regular season against the a 500 team but when you are on the road in the afc championship you HAVE to do something a bit different. YOU DONT BEAT NEW ENGLAND WITH FIELD GOALS.

To me this game hurt worse then if we had been blown off the field. However I never saw 1 single flare to the backs. New England was hip to our screens but eventually they figured out that rivers could not throw the ball more then 30 yards with his bum knee and tightened up and took away the seams. Chambers and Jackson played great. Even Rivers played well.

I do believe it is time for Kaeding to go. He may be accurate but he is just not much more then a 2008 version of Rolf Bernershke and I would rather roll the dice with a Seabass any time.

Defensively we were valiant and I think we played alot more man which really helped. Yet when we softened up the zone Brady picked us apart outside. Why is it New England can run the quick pass outside and always pick up yardage but we cannot nor do we even try it. There were also a few times when the zone could not rotate outside quick enough and one time moss was alone for a quick 14 and at least 2-3 times faulk and even the fullback #44 was sitting there pretty wide open... I still wish we qould have chose to sell out a little more. I think we actually did rattle Brady the few times we got some pressure on. We DID force some bad passes out of him. It can happen.

Yet when it came down to it we couldn't stop them. We were tired and we got tired because our O couldn't score. Even our long drives were not long drives. We moved down the field relatively quick and in larger chunks not 14 play drives. The D was out of gas by the 4th. No big plays to speak of by either Sean but the cornerbacks were men today.

Well as we always say here in San Diego... maybe next year.

You were right about Norv Turner all along.

meh. i dont watch ball, but i saw last weeks game (and today's). chargers had no chance, the defense put no pressure on the opposing qb, the offensive line is milque toast. you have a cripple qb in the game and no protection, forgetaboutit.

btw. lt is lawrence taylor. not ladanian.

I have a hard time putting this on the coaches as they did a masterful job against the NE offense which has been a juggernaut all season. NE has made their legacy winning tight games like this. Offensively we had a gimpy Rivers, an ineffective Gates and no LT. With a healthy LT there is no way we get inside the red zone 4 times and not get at least 2 tds.

I noticed that leg whip/trip also by Vrabel and was surprised the announcers never said a thing about myself.

Agreed we were short handed but didn't agree with the play calling down in the red zone.

Vrabel is known for that punk ass stuff and I saw it 100% as well. Nothing from the refs and rivers threw the pick on that play which sucked. The refs pretty much let them play today.

A rivers/manning sb would have been fun.

I hate the Patriots. Perhaps it has to do with the smug Mass State Trooper that decided to ticket me right after I got out of the airport when I was visiting some friends two years ago, but ever since then, I frickin hate that team.

Trivia Fact: MA is the only state you can get a ticket in without having it show up in your CA DMV. All states, have some reporting deal that reports violations in out of states to CA, except MA.

All week I bought into it, that Norv was different, that he was gutsy, that the team just needed time to adjust, I started to believe and now all I can do is think about taking another shower because I feel dirty.

SD and sd, you both make valid points. The game would have been better and in fact they might have won with their stars in the game. LT and Gates are their redzone bread and butter and it would have been a different game. I think all of the trick plays involve LT because he can lull the db's in when he touches the ball. They still did us proud with backups and after seeing New England Struggle against our pre-season line up I was rooting for Green Bay so we could have an epic, good vs evil superbowl. WTF, how did the pack fall apart in the second half offensively, last week they looked like the undoing of the patsies. Now I am going to have to hear about the greatest team of all time for the rest of my life.

The good thing is that they actually have more talent going into next year than they did coming into this year because cromartie, sproels, chambers and jackson all look better than they ever have.

But I goota agree with SD, after about the second or third time they got within ten yards of the end zone and the camera cut to Lt. on the sideline and then a shot of Norv, I threw up a little in my mouth.

Oh well, if you would have told me at the half way point in the season when they were at .500 that they would beat the colts with Billy Voleck and then lose a fairly close game to arguably the best team to ever take the field in the AFC championship, without LT or Gates, that they would go deeper into the post season than the Jags, I would have called you crazy. I hope I'm wrong about Norv, I really do, I don't think I can do this for that many more years.

You have been right all along about everything, especially about Norv. No guts, no glory. No thorn, no crown. Norv weenied out. Rivers is a great QB and he deserves a great coach.

He didn't take his helmet off because it was freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing there. I would have done the same thing.

After many years of being a true soccer fan, I gave in a few years ago and started following my newly adopted sport, American Football. The Chargers bearly played any football and it came closer to soccer (I mean - the kicker was the only active player on that field.....sadly so). I tell you, most of you noticed the same trend: weak and anemic schemes in our offense. How in the world do you get near PATS' 10 yard from a goal and stumble to capitalize on a 1 yard push.....pretty lame.

At first I was angry, then I felt like....let's get this over with. When the team was behind, the coach should have PLAYED like there is not tomorrow...and the tactics should have been more agressive. None of that transposed to the players/field.

I guess it felt like it was rigged for in the last quarter...or the Chargers gave up to early (hard to belive - based on the latest games)
