I received this email. I unfortunately don't have spare room. I thought I'd post here in case anyone wants to pay it forward (or maybe planning a trip to Italy in the future that perhaps a favor can be returned) or knows of someone who would like to help.

"Due to unforseen circumstances I am looking for a new host family for an Italian high school student, age 17. This is a volunteer opportunity for a family interested in learning about Italian culture and sharing american culture. The student will be here through the end of the high school year in June. She is very mature and very responsible. She also is strives to do well in school. We would transfer her to the local high school that the new host parents live near. She enjoys running in the morning and swimming as well. Please send this out to your group if you can. We could really use your help!

Any pictures?

I did not receive a photo in the email. Doesn't sound like a slug or anything, if they're into running and swimming. Sounds like an athletic, studious person.

JP, it was strictly tongue-in-cheek. I barely survived my own teenagers, and I don't date women younger than forty anymore.

Oh, I figured you were being a smart-ass. I was almost going to comment that TG can't volunteer to host ;)

But in case anyone else was worried of being eaten out of house and home, doesn't sound like there would be a problem in that regard.

When does she turn 18?

Teenage boy in the house, probably not good....Well for him it would be.

They failed to mention that she also hosts a talk show. ;)

My two cents, sounds like a scam. 17yr old, Italian female, swimmer's body, etc.

Thanks for disqualifying me before I had a chance to think about it. Actually I would have disqualified myself for the same reason Cardiff did, teenage boy in the house and I am a sound sleeper, that would go bad quick. Like Casca, I'm done with trainees, so overated.

Wow, ralph. She's something! Gorgeous.

The email wasn't a scam. I belong to an Italian club. I thought I'd help them out and post here, since housing is discussed and I thought maybe someone has room or knows of someone who might be able to help.

LOL, many dirty old men here would love to host her.

Yes. I can see Pigg men are only so evolved.

Maybe there are some women who feel motherly enough to help.

Come on now jp.... everyone knows pigg men are pigs and pig women are hot.

Yes. What was I thinking ;)

Don't worry... over time the thread will get hijacked by

a) football conversation
b) political mudslinging
c) end of the world as we know it talk

Was that a request? I pick "a", without further ado, allan, how bout your raiders over sdrealtors iggles, nice work? What do you think SD, the patsies look like they got it going on again, I'm almost o.k with denver taking tomorrow night and the division, it's our only hope to end the norv tuner era and get "chucky" for next year.

This is now the second request this week to take on an exchange person, the other one was from my kids school to take a korean male teacher who will be teaching at my kids school (the two female teachers are already taken, so no moral dilemma there). I thought about that for a bit, I need a wingman and korea needs a little hedonism, he's gonna hate my "donger needs food" t-shirt but other than that, it could work. I'll sleep on it.

Well done. You have that post sportscenter, couple glasses of wine ready to make a few before bed postings in you tone.

Funny but I have been thinking the same thing about tomorrow night as well. I think a 5-11 season would really help more then hurt right now with respect to long term rebuilding and I cannot disagree. The team is as soft as could be and damn I wish they would listen to us and pull off the aforementioned trade I brought up in the other thread. You look at some of the O and D lines on most other teams.... so much of a difference.

Korean could use a little tg in thier life. There may be peace in our time yet.

TG: You know, I saw SDR's post and thought, "Nope, I'm not going to rise to the bait; I'm going to be good" and then you come roaring in with your post.

Anyone who can seamlessly intertwine the NFL, "Sixteen Candles", geopolitics and using booze as a lubricant for peace on the Korean peninsula is a true master.

I also don't want to be "that guy", but I'm having a real hard time believing in Denver. Yeah, they're 5 - 0, but they're not a REAL 5 - 0 team in my opinion (as evidenced by another 5 - 0 team, the NY Giants, getting absolutely schooled by the Saints (and parenthetically to my parenthetical comment: WTF were the Chargers thinking when they let Brees go?!?)).

I'm going to start tracking stats on JaMoke, I mean JaMarcus, Russell. I have a sneaking suspicion that when his QB rating goes above 10.0 and/or his completion rate breaks 25%, the Raiders are actually capable of winning. I'm also going to tie this to the Napa County DA's indictment proceedings and figure if "Indicted Raider Coaches" is less or equal to 1, then we also have a chance.

If the Bolts take out Denver tonight in MNF, I think Denver's halo is knocked askew and they finish with a 10 - 6 schedule (same as the Chargers). Yes, I did pull that out my ass, why do you ask? I've been a Denver hater too long, I guess.

Maybe the Italian student is lucky not to find a place and miss out on this culture ;)

Or she's missing out on what real sports is like.

Here I used to think of the Donger as Japanese, but that wouldn't be a proper Japanese name now would it?

Submitted by Casca on October 19, 2009 - 8:43am.

Bad news, tonight the Chargers eat a late lunch, fed to them by the Broncos. From now on I only cheer for horses, Broncos and Colts.

Sd and allan, it's like we are sharing the same brain. Yes, the writing conditions were exactly as SD guessed and allan nailed the movie quote. The more I think about it the more I want to host that korean teacher. I figure the the meeting with the organizers of the program would be off the charts on the comedy scale. They would tell me the rules of the program and I would counter with "O.K., but at least twice a week he has to go to happy hour with me and he has to wear my "donger" t-shirt. Then they tell me that I am supposed to expose him to cultural locations and experiences, I reply "you mean vegas, right? No problem and I assure you I will only take him to the classy gentlemen's clubs."

Back to football, I'm fired up to see tonight's game, I can't lose, either the bolts win and get back into the drivers seat for a second half of the season push like they usually do, or the coaching rumors start flying again. It does boggle the mind that Cowher, Shanahan, Gruden, Holmgren and Dungy are all out of coaching, while at the same time, three really neat places to live, coach and be rich (San Diego, Oakland and Dallas) are being coached by Norv, Wade and Mike Tyson's evil twin, aka, "likes to fight guy." (I actually like the raiders coach's style, just not the punching the assistants thing). Is it me or does it look like Wade Phillips won a contest and gets to watch from the sidelines as his prize. Oh and I forgot the skins coach, Zorn is no longer allowed to use dry erase markers, he has been relegated to the big kindergarten crayons, and to think that team passed up on singletary. And what the hell happened to Baltimore?

All these non sports fan think that economics and politics will make you crazy, that's nothing, I'm already on the verge of a psych med overdose and it's still a few weeks away before Ron Artest plays in a regular season game. I hoard medication each year for the NBA/NFL overlap period, but the way things are going, I'm not going to have enough.

Final prediction, Saints win it all

That would be justice. Why not start a pool? How long before Norv gets the boot?
