Hi raptorduck,

I was up in the bay area taking care of biz, but I wasn't able to do something I wanted to. I was trying to find out how mich rental prices should be for a 4/2 sfh in sunnyvale/santa clara. Me thinks I'm giving a tenant a steal but tenant thinks otherwise. Any ideas?

Man, it feels good to be back here. I really forgot what its like to be here. The rush, the excitement, the diversity. Ah you can't get this in san diego?

Why oh why do you want to move here? I want to move back to sf.

Except people in my field seem to be a lot younger than when I was here. Damn age thing.

FLU. Sorry, I missed this when you first posted it. I don't know the rental market up here all that well. I can say that I was considering renting out my 4br 2.5b in San Jose for $3,850/month, which is what the management company said I could easily get. Seems the rental market is pretty strong.

I would expect Sunnyvale to be higher than that and to be higher than Santa Clara, depending on what part of Sunnyvale you are talking about. I know my part of San Jose (West San Jose) is pricier than other parts, and Sunnyvale north of Lawrence and west of El Camino is the pricer part of Sunnyvale.

I will miss the diversity of the Bay Area and the rush of Silicon Valley. But I will be flying up here a lot to my old office. I have always flown to SD a lot from here and will just switch base camps.

Thanks raptorduck.

Sunnyvale north of Lawrence and west of El Camino is the pricer part of Sunnyvale.

Just to pry a bit. I'm trying to figure out this recent rental market.

Did you mean west of Lawrence and North of El Camino instead? My rental runs off Reed Ave, which would be in North of El Camino and W of Lawrence. I figured I might be given my tenant a deal at $2800/month, but haven't really done much to hack things up because the tenant isn't a pita. Also, do you have a management company you can refer up there?  Thanks.

fwiw: this neighborhood, i think it was built in the 60ies. If I ever move back, I'll probably want to do a teardown.
