NAR always has an excuse...

How are these guys still the major lobbying firm for Real Estate? Why does anyone listen to them? Unbelievable. They always have some excuse about why things aren't recovering as fast as they should...instead of just saying "home prices need to adjust to reflect the value versus market rental rates for similar properties".

So the latest excuse is blaming appraisers and how banks are using appraisers outside of a market that don't understand the special "situations" of that market". That is the biggest load of crap. Before I went into development I was a commercial appraiser and we did appraisals outside of our market all the time. Values are based on comparables. Both listings and sales. It isn't based on "emotions" or special market "situations". Appraisers look at what has sold and how much it sold for and comparing it to the subject property.

NAR is retarded.

maybe the NAR would get better results if they opened up membership to appraisers as well? Change the name to the NARA - nat'l assoc of relators and appraisers. they should trademark Appraisor(TM) so that if you want to say you are one, you have to be a member.

The rumor is NAR is starting an all out offensive against HVCC. There is an email floating around the net (I have it posted on my blog it is rather long so I won't post it here) regarding all the steps they are taking to get it set aside.

Using their most watched press release to roast HVCC is only one of many things they are doing to get a moratorium put in place. Once they succeed in that they will quietly kill it or neuter it.
