Misleading MiravalUser Forum Topic

Miraval is the new construction going in the Torrey highlands area (in San Diego). Exit from highway CA 56 onto Camino Del Sur and turn left at carmel valley, you will find this new place. It is very irritating to see how misleading Miraval marketing has been...They advertize by saying these homes are in Carmel Valley Rd and 92130 zip code with top notch schools. By looking at this, people can easily think it is part of Carmel Valley school district. But it is not. This is not considered as Carmel Valley area, it is Torrey Highlands and the school district is Poway which is very good but they don't want to mention that anywhere. For elementary, you will have to go to willow grove By their advertisement, we though it belongs to carmel valley. The prices are all matching with real carmel valley homes which is outrageous. So if you ever step into these sites, pls be aware of these things.

An API score if 892 and API rank of 9 out of 10 is not very good?
The schools are top notch (might not be the best, but it is top notch). I'd say A average (9 out of 10) is top notch. The houses are on Carmel Valley Rd and they did say the zip is 92128, which is not Carmel Valley. Based on their website: http://www.davidsoncommunities.com/commu..., they did say at Torrey Highlands, not at Carmel Valley. So, what's the problem? How are they misleading you?
Yep, and there is a little section over there that is in the 92130 zip code but not in the CV/DM district.
I hear those greasers at Torrey Highlands are real lowlifes.
Thanks for pointing out. They might have got lots of complaints about false information and updated the website now. Here is the proof, this is the video they had in youtube and good thing they haven't fixed it yet:

They clearly say they have built in Carmel Valley neighborhood instead of Torrey Highlands.
But in the same video, when they show the sign of the community, it clearly said Miraval in Torrey Highland. So, it's seem like it's just a miss informed lady.
Yup, totally the wrong side of the tracks.
For elementary, you will have to go to willow grove
Funny the way you word this. "You HAVE to go to Willow Grove". LOL.
Willow Grove is one of the newest and highest rated Elementary schools in the area. It's very nice. There can be waiting lists to get in here.
Heck, even for preschool last year our daughter didn't get to go there. There was a waiting list about 30 kids long to get in here.
We feel very fortunate that our daughter gets to go to preschool here next year. We know several parents (including neighbors) that didn't get in for pre-school.
I don't think they are being misleading if they are giving the zip code and not saying the school district is something else.
When we were looking at houses last year we saw several in Carmel Valley and honestly we weren't impressed. Why anyone would pay $1 million + on homes in developments like Pacific Highlands Ranch boggles my mind. Just was NOT impressed at all. (We ended up buying in Santaluz and LOVE LOVE LOVE it).
While the area of Carmel Valley is generally convenient, we didn't like the high density nature of the area with so many apartments and townhouse complexes. And most developments have houses packed on top of one another.
In many houses you had 4 or 5 neighbors directly looking into your house.
For anyone that has kids, I don't think there is any way to be "easily confused". All the parents I know when they are buying a house look, plug in the address first to see what school district the house is in before considering it.
Agree, I seriously doubt the sales office would be able to trick someone into buying a house by misinforming them about the school district.
Anyone else notice they had to change the name of this development from Miraval to Maricel because someone else had the name trademarked?
You would have thought they would have checked before naming the development. Oh well...

Is there a trade mark search engine? Just wondering... And does miraval mean anything? In Spanish? Italian?

From one of the records:
"MIRAVAL" is a colloquial contraction of the Spanish translation of "VALLEY VIEW".
Yep exactly. Looks like a large Arizona resort already had that name. I wonder if Davidson realized it on their own or if the resort found out and threatened legal action.
I just thought it was funny to see signs for a new one. I've been gone the past few months on vacation in Europe but I did a double take when I drove by after I came back and saw it with a new name...

Miraval is actually protected as a service mark, not a trademark. Don't know how they can enforce it, as the real estate companies are selling real estate, not services ( but I'm sure an argument could be made).

Go to www.uspto.gov and navigate to trademark search. Use the basic search unless you are familiar with the system.
