Mira Mesa woman chained to her house - to avoid foreclosure

I'm sure you've seen this as it made both the local news and now the MSM.

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008...

Curious how she explained the reporter in the report in the SD news last night that she's been living in the house for about 19-20 years & she won't leave.
Once asked what caused this payment reset, the answer was HELOC/refi...... $300K out of the house lost in a bad business. I just don't feel resposible for these sheeple's stupidity......ouch

The kool aid is still flowing in these sheeple's veins.

Over and over she refers to it as HER home, but what she's apparently not getting is that it is NOT her home. It stopped being her home the minute she put it up for a massive loan on a risky venture. She traded her home for cash, bet the cash, and lost it. Now she has neither. DUH.

I am sorry, but this woman pisses me off.

1) She is an RE agent, she makes her money facilitating short sales on other peoples houses they couldnt pay for. And she didn't see any of this coming? BS, it isnt like 2006 was 2003, people knew.

2) She owes the bank more than $630'000 on a house she bought for 192'000. WHERE did the the other 440'000 go? She HELOCd it all out and spent it. Basically she bought a house in 1989, and sold it in 2006 making a 440 thousand dollar profit (close to what it is worth now) got a free 2 year option incase the value went up even more so she could profit even more; PLUS she gets to live there for another 2-3 years with atleast 6 months rent free. Sounds like a hell of a deal to me, too bad the free rent deal is up.

3) She seems to feel no remorse for her actions. The bank will loose tons of money on this, and that is the whole basis of the current financial panic that is sending responsibles peoples savings/retirment down. People like this took huge risks and lost. Now they dont feel they should pay the consequences for their actions. This house needs to be foreclosed on, sold to a new family who wont risk their "castle" and moved on. She blaims the greedy banks, the Federal Government, everyone but herself and her decisions to litterally morgage her families future by taking out BS loans she knew she could not repay.

Seriously, this woman got more than double what she paid for it, plus months if not a year of free rent to help save money. And I am suppose to have so much sympathy for people like this that I want to use my tax dollars to bail her out?????

From her website:

"We have consultants working together to advise and assist you. Our professionals in your local area are familiar with the laws unique to California. They are specialists in finding the program that will work for you. And they will act quickly to make sure you don’t lose your home."

I take this to mean her consultants will buy you a lock and chain so you can chain yourself to your house?

The odd thing is that Zillow shows her house as having sold on 5/14/2008 - did the bank already foreclose, and she's just waiting for the eviction now?

I'll drag her out of the house.

I find myself getting more irritated with this situation everyday. For all intense purposes, that's my house.

Myself and many others have been saving, do our best to be debt free, maintain good credit and work hard. So far, the only thing I have gotten for my efforts is a greater tax burden.

F U, June Reyno! I have a cardboard box and spot under a freeway overpass for you.

I have yet to read about anyone sympathetic to this woman. She seems not to realize that she is drawing attention to herself, but it is doing more harm than good.

I did do some research and the home has indeed been foreclosed on already. It's a done deal, June. The best you can hope for at this point is a little cash from the bank to move yourself out. And seeing how cameras have shown your U-Haul is already loaded, you may not even get that.

I thought she made the story up to bring attention to her business. I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity.

What I think you have here is free advertisement/marketing for a business.

Ex-Realtor turned Consumer Advocate/Experienced Foreclosure Consultant :)

Sad part is, somewhere/sometime in the future U.S. taxpayers are going to be on the hook for this :(

Why not? We need to "spread the wealth" to help unfortunate, disadvantaged, people like this out. We need moratoriums of mortgages so that hard working folks like these don't lose their homes through unfair policies.

Congratulations folks. Your portion of investment into this fine, leveraged property will be $.01 of your tax dollars... Next property... :)

You folks think if I chained myself to a Charles Schwab office or Fidelity officem I'll get part of my 401k back?

The more details I see the sicker I get.

Who in the right mind would ask this RE looser for advice with respect to foreclosure?

I tend to believe now that the $300K lost in a business venture is nothing else than investing in more in housing speculation (I'm curious if there is a way to find out if her name is on other RE around town or other states).

I'd like to think that people out there are getting smarter/wiser with all these financial/economic problems. I woud think NOBODY will ask this RE looser for advice, yet Paris Hilton's theory holds true (any kind of publicity will do...). Hence, I won't hold my breath if she starts making money with her RE foreclosure business.

The more I contemplate this sickening act, I realize that the amount of true analytic folk, like the piggs, is indeed a fine minority in this country.

I'd change the term "analytic folks" to a more broader base: "financially responsible and/or financially self-accountable" people. (I don't consider everyone on this board to be financial gurus (inclusive)). But I think the common thread on this board is financial responsibility/accountability.

In general, I always knew that "financially responsible people and/or financially self-accountable" people were in the minority...BUT,I didn't think it was that bad.

Banks deserve to eat this loss for being irresponsible. This person shouldn't be marketing themself (when did being in foreclosure become being in vogue????????). In general, I'm pretty sympathetic when people loose their home because of unfortunate circumstances. But this one takes the cake.

You know what, I've been spending a lot more these days for personal enjoyment and tucking a lot more away for my kid..
I really don't see a point of penny pinching as much anymore, since

(1) I don't need to and
(2) the way things are, if it's not on me, it's going to other people should penny pinch but don't

And frankly, every time I hear about these one of these things in the news, I'm pretty happy I'm about overpaying for a home that I live in, that spouse and kid can grow up in and enjoy........ Better my family then some random stranger. (Don't get me wrong, I'm worried about the economy a bit...But then again, if I go unemployed, the bright news is my taxes under Obama's plan with a kid will go down significantly too)

I am also amazed that the CNN report didn't even question how she lost her money in her business. I'm 99% certain that she bought foreclosed properties with the money, tried to flip them, and got burned. Instead, it seems the intent of the CNN piece is to make us feel sorry for her and many other Americans like her who are being foreclosed upon.

Expect similar stories in the future, especially if we "spread the wealth" around in the near future. Those who receive the "wealth" will soon say it isn't enough, they are still victims of society. Gaming the system has become the American pastime. We, who don't game the system, are now just slaves... uh, I mean schmucks.

I'm not... It's "journalismarketing"....Stories/headlines that appeal to the prevalent direction the wind is blowing...

Which headline will sell better in the current environment?

"Lady Loses $300k from Heloced Loan , Blames Bank for Losses and Wants Her Loan Forgiven"

OR

"Lady Chains Self to Home to Fight Unfair Foreclosure and Corruption"

Remember, it's the "Greedy, corrupt businesses" that got her into this mess, and has nothing to do with personal accountability.

Unrelated note: Congrats piggington members who are fiscally responsible. You will be a minority over the next few years. You will now experience what so many ethnic minorities have experienced, when the prevailing social policies and practices will be constructed to benefit the majority, and because of your views/economic standpoint will be under-represented, those social policies made will now indirectly discriminate/hinder your abilities to reach your goals. Despite the inequities that you have previously experienced, you decided to have your dollars economically work harder. You did want so few people did, saved your hard earned dollars, made sacrifices, because someday, you wanted to be able to live in that purchased home...Only now, the rules have changed, and the majority throws another roadblock at you, because you were different. Life is a unfair, deal with it. So many of us already have.

Not to be a jerk, cause I totally got your point, but how is this gonna be any different than before. Part of the few fiscially conservitive and financially responsible people remaining, Check. Part of those who save for the future, Check. Part of those who get hated on all the time because I feel people should be responsible for their actions, Check. Part of those who only make informed buying decisions instead of emotional "Iwanna's", Check. Part of those who get no love from the media, Check. Part of those who the Gov robs repeatedly so they can play Robbin Hood 2008, Check. Part of those who know that nothing will really change in any substantial way, cept for those who meet all above criteria who will see things get worse and more unfair, check. Part of those who will go back to school, work more, and do with less so that everyones "rights" can be expanded at no 'cost', (sigh) check.

"June Reyno has chained herself to the front porch of the house she's lived in for 20 years, saying she refuses to let the bank take it. But she may not get much sympathy after people see the court records that "Inside Edition" has found.

Those records show she refinanced over and over, each time taking out huge sums of money. Now she owes almost $674,000 and has quit making payments. "

Simple, when it happens at a large scale AND government is empowered to do something, it's gonna drastic things are going to happen. Government is gonna step in this time in a big way, because it can, and there is not going to much of a pushback.
Oh well.

Taken from PUBLIC INFORMATION...

This person indeed does have a sales person license from the DRE however she does not have an employing broker. Indeed after reading her website I do not see that she performs any real estate transactions. Maybe I am missing something but it seems like she just "assists" people with the short sale process...

Also from the tax roll there are two recordings of a trustee deed for the same price, 361,200 both from Quality Loan Service to Residential Funding, one on 2/12/08 and one on 5/14/08. I see a recorded loan for 589k in 4/2006 and another one for 522k in 9/05 and a 104k in 5/04. Tax roll only goes 4 recordings back.

Those are the facts guys....

Now as for my opinion... Yep I agree with everyone. She has played the system well.

This woman reminds me of one of those phoney "I will work for food" guys. It kind of frustrates me to see them pan handling and sometimes throwing food that people give them into the bushes to rot. However, they still are out there, yellow toothed sun burned and scabbed over and I remember that something must be wrong with them to do that. I don't want to "fix them" with a donation, becasue that would be a waste, but I don't want to kick them anymore because they certainly are down ,further than I am,to be doing such things. This woman is sick. Her symptoms are not really that surprising either. That people want to kick the tar out of her isn't either.

I have a solution to her problem:

Sell the loan to the mob, then you will see how quckly she will make good on the money she borrowed. My guess is that she would vacate the house in pristine condition, cover up the difference from the short sale, and be very happy while doing it.
