Feel free to use this as a template or copy as a whole if you want to send to your reps. I refuse to stand by and not even attempt to have my voice heard.

Dear Honorable Member,

I am sending you this letter to ask you to reject the bailout plan. The Paulson plan will not solve our current crisis and will only make the situation much worse. This massive debt bubble is so large that if we attempt to bail it out we risk the future of our nation.

Below I have provided a link to a research group white paper that you may or may not have already read. It shows the magnitude in dollar terms of this crisis and how the proposed $700 billion would be woefully inadequate. It is clear that no bailout could be of sufficient magnitude. And even attempting this plan put forth by Paulson jeopardizes the credit rating and even the solvency of our nation.

The only reasonable choice we have is to say no to a bailout of any kind. We must let these excesses purge from the system. The purging process will be painful and there will be many casualties, however, the alternative will be many times worse. Our present economy was doomed to fail because we sustained ourselves on consumer spending and financial alchemy. We were the classic Ponzi borrower destined to fail.

After the deleveraging process is complete, we can begin rebuilding and strengthening our economy. The government will then need to open its purse strings to create jobs, rebuild our infrastructure, and lead us away from fossil fuels through alternative energies. Government will be needed to nurture the new industries for our future like those that create a manufacturing base for advanced technologies in alternative energy, water purification, and agriculture. In the future, every country will need 3 basic things: cheap and abundant energy, food, and water. We should strive to create products and innovations that focus on these areas.

You must address this crisis head on and decide between two very hard and unpopular choices. We must look to our nation’s future and fix this problem now. We must not attempt to push it onto the next generation. If you sought public service because you wanted to make a difference, this will be the single most consequential choice you will ever make. History will remember you in this hour. Will you cave in to the pressure and fear that Mr. Bernanke and Mr. Paulson apply so deftly, or will you have the moral courage and fortitude to reject it?

Our country is in fear because they don’t understand what is happening. Tell them the truth and lead us to a better future.

Respectfully,

Excellent letter. There is only one problem with it. The elected representatives are the problem. They are not leaders and they are afraid to let this panic run its course. They know they will be punished for the part they played in it and they are afraid of civil unrest. They would rather pass on a mountain of debt to future generations rather than show bravery or leadership now. They are corrupt, cowardly, contemptible and they need to go.

well said. The only thing I would personally change is the honorable part, but that's a different issue, depending on which Congressman it's sent to.

Can someone PLEASE list the congress persons' email addresses and/or fax numbers? This would make it easier to send off this anti-bailout correspondence. Thanks.

Thanks Running Bear. Nice letter, used it to send to Feinstein and Boxer. I sent emails a few days ago, and now Boxer has a new topic heading for
"Financial Crisis." That was not there a few days ago.

Should this letters include stop spending on this bailout and stop spending by everyone when people cannot afford it. Don't take a loan or accept money when you can't pay it back. The government needs to stop spending on social programs, declare victory and bring the troops home. I'm serious. The US doesn't have money.

I sent e-mails to Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Hunter, Reid, McCain and Biden. I also called many of their offices, but Pelosi and Reid, no answer and the voice mail was full. Thanks for the suggestions to hold their feet to the fire.
