Inheriting Prop 13User Forum Topic
Submitted by Peace on September 27, 2007 - 4:28pm
I want to have the option to inherit my parents' house as a way to retire cheap here in So Cal. Anyone know a lawyer in North County that would be well versed in Prop 13? I need to know how to set this up.

I did this through a mortgage guy in Irvine. Its very easy actually. You can email me at spicedham at dudefolk dot com and I will get you his info if you cannot find a person in SD.
The option to inherit their house ?
Isn't that up to them ??
Why do you think that you need a lawyer ?
If you are talking about keeping their property tax base, you will, as long as title is transferred properly.
This is normally handled on the PCOR form from the county.
Call the SD County Assessors office.
It doesn't require a lawyer, and isn't complicated.
HLS is correct. This transaction does not require a lawyer. My husband did this recently over the phone and via mail with the Contra Costa county assessor for a house inherited from his grandfather.
And I thought prop 13 couldn't be anymore unjust! What a swizz.
