I-5 between Via De La Valla, and Del Mar HeightsUser Forum Topic
Submitted by CardiffBaseball on February 2, 2007 - 10:56am
Does anyone know what's taking place in the Lagoon between Del Mar Hts. and Via De La Valle. I see a lot of trucks and grading going on. Are they creating some kind of park? It would seem a little risky to put homes down in there right?

I was wondering the same thing.
I believe they're doing some sort of river/lagoon enhancement, perhaps some dredging. I can guarantee that there won't be any new development there.
I noticed this morning a bunch of trucks on both sides of the freeway, and I can't figure out why they seem to be grading the land. However dredging and beautification could be all that's happening.
They're doing a 're-vegetation' project. A close friend of mine who works with various local conservancy non-profits brought me up to date on this just a couple weeks back...I agree it looks a lot like they are prepping sites for building, but that's definitely not the case. HD
They could never build there. It's in a flood plane.
Here are details of the project:
