Finally, a Thin PresidentUser Forum Topic

Caveat: this is half tongue-in-cheek. * I admit that one of the reasons I voted for Obama is that he's thin. I love it that Obama jogs up and down the stage, and up and down his plane's stairs. Plus Obama actually belongs to a gym. Good for him! We value responsibility and sacrifice, and people are praised for being financially responsible. Good students makes sacrifices and study hard to do well in school. They get awards and diplomas. What about being responsible to one's own body? I believe that it's just as important to make sacrifices and eat mostly healthy food with some occasional indulgence. * http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/06/opinio... http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB12... * Now, Michelle Obama could use a diet. Maybe an Oprah diet. :)

Michelle looks big-boned like Steffi Graf or Sigourney Weaver, I don't see her as being all that "fat". I don't find her attractive in any way but hey, she seems classy.
Anyway, what's wrong with a fat president? I think a big Chris Farley type would be entertaining. I don't recall any of our presidents actually being "fat" though...
No offense, patienty, but if you think Michelle Obama is fat (or that any of our other recent presidents were "fat"), one has to question your frame of reference.
Being too thin is just as bad as being too fat. I've known more people who've suffered medical problems because of eating disorders (anorexia/bulemia related problems) than anyone who was overweight (excluding those who are morbidly obese -- but that's a category unto itself, IMHO).
Best to just be healthy, and that means different things for different people. Not a good idea to shoe-horn everyone into the same box, as we are not all designed to look the same (thank God!!!). :)
Love him or hate him, Dubya has stayed in good shape throughout his presidency. I don't know if he's still running but in the first couple of years of his presidency he was running 3 miles at a 7 minute pace a couple of times a week. Not bad for someone his age. The recent film "W" noted this -- in it, the president says something to the effect of what the OP said, "finally we'll have a president who's in shape and can run". One of his advisors says "Well, Bill Clinton runs, doesn't he?" Dubya replies -- "That lardass? Give me a break." Funny movie if you haven't seen it...
Obama probably wouldn't be so thin if he didn't smoke like a chimney.
Clearly you're still living in the 1950's. Well, let me be the first to welcome you to the new millennium, and let me bring you up to date. It turns out that in recent years, this has flip flopped, and now we value excessive spending and irresponsibility. Not only in the individual but in the government too. The more you spend, the more benefits society will heap upon you. The more you save, and the more responsible you are, the more of a chump you are, and deserve to have what you have saved taken from you. Once again, welcome to 2008.

Patient I haven't paid close attention so don't take offense, but are you a lady, and speaking of how you like to see a man look or just as a guy respecting that he's so thin? I don't know, when I see these runners and triathletes I think ooh that's too skinny. I don't mind Michelle, taller girls are sometimes framed that way.
Give me a crossfit chick though over skinny but no muscle tone. My wife watches Dancing with the Stars while I am on the laptop... The body of that beach volleyball player gold medal winner was about perfect. Thick or should I say high cheekbones... no fat... Can't think of her name but her husband played pro-baseball.
Lebron James is supposedly 274 now with 5% body fat. I don't know if that is accurate just what the ESPN reporter said the other night. Is he sufficiently skinny? 4.5 speed on 6'8". I wonder what he'll look like at Obama's age? Hopefully not Magic Johnson or Tony Gwynn, but sometimes great athletes have that weight gain propensity and it only stay under control while you are active.
"Taft was the fattest President. He was so severely overweight to the point that he became stuck in the bathtub in the White House several times, prompting the installation of a new bathtub capable of holding all of the men who installed it- a truth the White House denied until it was torn out years later. At 6 feet, and weighing over 350 pounds (159 kg), Taft was the heaviest President.(Jefferson, Lincoln, Johnson and Clinton were taller)."
Cardiff are you talking about Misty May? A gold medalist, her photo was the most downloaded internet photo in 2004...
Nostra yes, and for the record I do not find her to be all that pretty, not ugly either just not those stunning facial features we associate with the super attractive types.. Yet she is incredibly appealing. Now this 2004 picture, she looks to have it all covered.
He may be thin, but did anyone hear what Obama said about performing a séance with Nancy Reagan when asked if he had spoken to any of the past Presidents?
His intial reply, was "all of them, well, obviously not the dead ones..."
Four more years of bumbling idiocy?
I wonder if his kids will be afraid of the ghosts in the White House?
W could take him. He's a girly-man. If it wasn't for cigarettes and coke, he'd look like Bubba C.
The soon to be Commander-in- Chief's wife could kick his ass. No wonder the Europeans, especially the French, are crazy about him.
