Down payment hedgingUser Forum Topic

Down payment hedging I want to buy a house in Houston or Dallas a year from now. I have the money for the down payment right now, but other circumstances keep me from buying the house now. I have a gut feeling that housing prices will go up in Houston or Dallas this coming year, while it will continue to decline in other US markets. I would like to hedge my down payment money, but I am not sure how to do it. I’ve looked into some REITs, but all of them seem to have an overly diversified portfolio with investments in markets about which I don’t really have a good gut feeling. Does anyone have any idea how can I do this hedging? Thanks
