Did I Mention It's a Buyer's Market?

I recently read about a new San Diego real estate booster site up at http://www.sandiegohomeownership.com (in the Transcript, natch, where it was of course considered highly newsworthy). I clicked over there just for kicks, and the first link I visited was "Home Prices/Trends."

Go on, click it. Home Prices/Trends.

Is that chart of the obviously mean-reverting data series ending at the tippy-top of an exponential rise supposed to make me want to buy a house?

Because it didn't really have that effect at all.

Cute. Notice that the chart ends in 2004. To the savvy investor this should be a red flag.

Are you sure the site is new? It looks like something archaelogists discovered buried in the permafrost of pre-2006 (the boomozoic era).

Rich, I'm sure if you were to send them an email detailing why the graph doesn't motivate you to buy a house, they would gladly change the graph till it did.
