What's the latest on the gates, and how will things be different? Will 3rd and 4th be one-way all the time, or change with the rush hours? How will it affect Alameda? Is the tunnel still alive? Any other possibilities?

I think there was a ballot issue on splitting lots. How did that turn out?

Thanks for any info, or direction to another source.

3rd will now end at the new gate. You will no longer turn left on Alameda to get to the entrance. From the drawings, it looks like you will still exit at the old gate and continue straight down 4th.
It doesn't sound like much is happening with the tunnel.
I think the measure to restrict splitting lots passed. However, there will be legal issues with it. I thought it was BS and a classic example of, "I've got mine and now I'm going to prevent others from having it too."

Sounds like if you come off the bridge and you want to get to the Country Club Area, you'll probably want to make a left on Orange. You'll then make a right on 5th, 6th, etc. So, you have the signals at both 3rd and 4th to contend with. For the people coming up the Strand and going to the base in the morning, how are they going to get to the 3rd Street gate? Are they going to have to go to Orange and make a left on Third? I bet they have a couple of lanes open in the morning to make a left from Alameda onto the base at 4th. A guess it's an improvement?

The change really only affects two things:
It cuts way down on the traffic on the block of Alameda between 3rd and 4th.
It reduces backed-up traffic at Alameda and 4th.
Thats about it.
