hey Piggingtonians!

Working on a story today about the public relations strategies companies use to brand not only their developments, but the communities they're in.

ie. A row home community is marketed as "just minutes from the chic La Mesa downtown atmosphere".

Seen any good ones lately? Reply to the post or shoot me an e-mail:

That's cos "just minutes from a non descript crime ridden hell hole with no redeeming qualities what so ever" doesn't sound as nice.
Cool.

how about "just minutes from bankruptcy"?

Here's the first part of Del Sur's. Curiously no mention of West Rancho Bernardo or Rancho Penasquitos, which are actually closer than RSF and Fairbanks Ranch. And I was never aware of La Jolla valley until this came along..

Few American cities have a more idyllic story to tell than San Diego. Here, amid the gently rolling hills of La Jolla Valley, historic hideaways like Fairbanks Ranch and Rancho Santa Fe found their roots. Spanish "silver dons" and vaqueros rode the dusty trails on Black Mountain Ranch.

Why would anyone live in La Mesa?

Its so far from anywheres that I need or want to go to in San Diego county!!!

Most work at least for technology jobs is in the UTC, Kearny Mesa or Sorrento Valley area or north in Carlsbad areas. These are far from La Mesa. Same goes for places like Chula Vista. It boggles my mind why to pay a lot for a place in either place. Now once a time if they were dirt cheap to buy that would explain the massive traffic heading west in the morning and east on the 8 freeway for the suckers who bought way out in La Mesa and El Cajon!!!

Unless you have a home business it makes zero sense to live in La Mesa!

This is more about a specific complex but it is one of my favorite pretentiously ridiculous names:

La Jolla Village Tennis Club -- a mediocre complex in UTC near a very busy feeder road, east of I-5. It is definitely NOT in the LJ village or the actual LJ Tennis Club.

UTC ripoffs

Here are two I recently saw at an open house:

#1. MLS# 066101739 listed at 785,000 a 2 bedroom/2bath condo!!!

#2. MLS # 0661103046 listed at 795,000 another 2bedroom/2bath condo.

Seriously, who in their right mind would pay these prices when one can get a real home nearby in Rancho Bernardo or Poway for same or less price? Condos suck. It is like renting a large apartment with a tax break thats all. I am waiting for the sellers and greedy agents to come back to earth and the market to correct itself. I like the strategic location of the UTC area and low crime rate but thats really about it. Places like Pacific Beach are more fun for single guys to live and party on weekends. Poway has the schools and safety for new families.
