Asians buy in OC...User Forum Topic

Article in bloomberg... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-13... I feel poor...
“You know why Orange County is doing better?” said Wang, a native of Taiwan who splits her time between Shenzhen in southern China, where she oversees a toy-manufacturing business, and Irvine, California, where she raised her three children. “It’s because all my neighbors are from China and Taiwan, and they all bought their homes in cash.”

Go long on Zynga;)
If our immigration policy was like Canada’s, this web site would probably have died a long time ago.
(but I think it has now taken a new life with a new purpose these days however).
I heard Carmelo is coming to the OC.
Why not? Vanessa is available and she already has the big rock.
Seriously this was the main reason we moved to SD from Irvine. Asians are infamous for driving up real estate prices wherever they congregate. By moving to SD, we are able to buy a house that is less than 1/2 the price of similar home in Irvine, in a neighborhood with higher average income compared to the best area in Irvine. And without the malignant intra-Asian competition on everything from children's grades in school to the type of car you drive.
As for Melo, looks like he is staying put in NY.

Go look at who's buying in Del Mar Mesa recently...It ain't that much better. But Irvine...It has always been fobbietown so I didn't expect anything else.
That's just fvcking great....I grew up in H.S. with the "second wave" fobbies from taiwan and korea that were so goddamn tacky and fvcking arrogant...Some of these H.S. punks had mommy/daddy buying them cars and homes nicer than I have now.......Now I get to live around "second wave" fobbies from china, who will probably be equally tacky... Time to dye my hair, inject hormones to change my skin color, change my last name, and start dressing like a punk rocker....
Thank you fvcking america for buying all the crappy shit from China...You did a great job making overseas people rich and fvcking annoying......

yes, I do see a lot of migration down into SD, and more specifically CV (hence CV prices never really went down), but we are still more of a secondary destination compared to LA/OC.
per census data SD added almost 90k Asians from 2000 to 2010. that's almost a 50% increase in 10 years. all Asian groups grew in numbers except for the Japs. If you look at SD population growth, SD grew from 2.8 million to 3.1 million. so essentially almost 1 out of 3 new SD resident over the 10 year period is Asian. I expect that trend to accelerate.
We are essentially 15 years behind OC as far as the Asian migration and influx. I was priced out in OC, but by moving to SD, I'm ahead of the fobbie peril. may be buying investment houses within the 56 corridor is the way to go given the pending invasion from OC, it is inevitable.
Did people used to say this stuff about the Jews?
The scary thing about that is there are over a billion Asians...

Try about 3 billions :-). ~1.4B Chinese, ~1.4B Indians, and all the other Asian countries will push it over 3B.

Indians are not Asians.

Really? What are we then?
They're not South Asians? Are you saying Wiki's definition South Asians are wrong?

subcontinentians
Really? What are we then?
apparently you guys are suppose to be caucasians because of the influx of Aryans from the middle east a few thousand years ago. :)
Indians are not caucasians either.

I can't decide to what degree I should be offended by this thread.
Lately these threads all the look the same to me.
Actually, in all the big metropolitan areas, the percentage of immigrants has grown in the last few decades. That's especially true for California as a whole.
Middle class whites are retreating to places like Spokane, WA and Fort Collins, CO.
Asians stand out because they look different. But there are plenty of people from Russia and Eastern Europe (who look slimmer and dress a better than White native born Americans). Orange County and Los Angeles have a huge population of Iranian Americans.
San Diego and LA has a big population of wealthy Mexicans who have homes here. Go to Fashion Valley and chances are that the well-dressed buyers are Mexican.
Globalization is taking place faster than people can adapt.
It makes sense for a small portion of people around the planet to shelter some of their wealth in America. After all we are still the most politically stable country with the dollar still the world currency. And relative to other countries, our culture is welcoming.
American universities are the best so it makes sense for people to buy houses for their kids to go to school.
American English is the language of business so people want to learn. There's a cachet about being at ease with world culture.
This is all good as we want to attract the best and the brightest.
Not to mention we want to attract the slimmest and well dressed also
Head up to the far-northeast section of Philadelphia next time you're there. Tell me then, that Russians are all slim and stylish... Check out along Bustleton Ave and Red Lion Rd... I have coworkers from that area... they weren't slim or stylish. Maybe that's an engineer thing, though.
As for the rest of this thread... I am afraid to comment. Anything I say will be construed as racist. Even this statement will be construed as racist. Even reading it I'll be called racist.
:-D

Interestingly, I learned recently that SCOTUS actually settled this issue way back in 1923!
Associate Justice George Sutherland found that, while Thind, an Asian Indian, may claim to have "purity of Aryan blood" due to being "born in Village Taragarh Talawa, near Jandiala Guru, Amritsar, Punjab" and having "high caste" status; he was not Caucasian in the "common understanding", so he could not be included in the "statutory category as white persons".

Interestng article - thanks for the link flu. I suppose it should be no surprise that immigrants would tend to congregate geographically. In CV there are a couple of elementary schools where the asian demographic is pushing 40%. If my CV realtor friend's observations are accurate, based on current inflow those numbers will continue to rise.
