http://www.housingwire.com/2009/10/12/tr... HAFA already holds the support of Fannie, according to a VP at the agency, Eric Schuppenhauer, who believes the new program allows borrowers in imminent default to “make a graceful exit” from their home. HAFA will keep the stigma associated with foreclosure away from the borrowers, he added, and help keep communities intact. Maggiano adds that HAFA will offer financial incentives to both servicers and borrowers, and associated secondary investors, in order to facilitate a short sale or deed in lieu of the property. rich

I have been watching HAFA as my little tax dollars fly away on golden wings.
I guess this is the next rabbit out of the hat.

The only stigma I know of associated with foreclosure is the massive hit to your credit and the fact that you will have trouble buying another house for a while. Isnt that 'stigma' a good thing? Allowing the market to identify responsible consumers vs irresponsible consumers seems like a good thing to me.

DWCAP, we'll send you the bill for our drinks later.
