All things being equal, I'd rather buy from an ugly realtor.

So I'm at an open house in Del Mar this afternoon. I had a really interesting conversation with the realtor. She seemed to be able to absorb some of what I had to say about why prices were going to come down, but of course she disagreed with me. Thats not what is interesting about the encounter.

It was a mother daughter team. The mom in her late 40s the daughter 19. It was an otherworldly conversation from the perspective of I'm not sure whether the realtor-ess was trying to goad me into makeing an offer on the over priced Sea Point condo, or make a pass at her, or just as likely at her daughter. The daughter spent most of her time trying to ignore me, which is cool. If I was a 19 year old girl I'd probably ignore the obnoxious stats quoting lookie loo as well. The mom spent most of her time asking me questions, then not waiting for me to answer. That was some serious cougar material right there. All things being equal I came away with two thoughts.

If I were single I'd rather date the daugther, duh! Secondly I'd rather buy real estate from ugly people, especially women. That way it interferes less with my consideration of the property.

So who's uglier, SD Realtor or sdrealtor or urbanrealtor?

Submitted by urbanrealtor on August 30, 2008 - 7:55pm.

That would be me.

Out of curiosity, did the mom have implants and lips that looked like they had been under the knife?

I think I know that team.

I find them creepy.

By the way, Mr. G, are you really into Del Mar?

I thought you liked North Park.

I used to run an office in Encinitas and I can say with absolute confidence that the 30th street corridor (as well as Lancers and the Alibi) has better bars with better beer than does all of North County.

I'm pretty hideous though I've gotten better looking the past couple months. After my 3rd glass of Cabernet though, I must admit that i'm downright stunning tonite.

I think I'd be a lock in the talent competition but my money would be on Rustico for the evening gown attire.

sdr...You know what they say about having what you were born with when you are 25 and what you deserve when you are 50? That's 25 extra reasons for me to flaunt it and why you're so damn ugly.

how do you look after a tumbler of powers?

how do you look after a tumbler of powers? Simply stunning.

As to the boob job and lips, that might describe the mom. I didn't really pay close attention. She looked like she had some work, but then most saleswomen in their 40's have. The daughter had stunning blue eyes though. I will say when I said that people had extracted all their equity for silly crap like boob jobs the look the daughter shot me, then mom was a bit odd.

Yeah DM is my first choice, lagoon side. I live in NP because its cheap, relative to the area for the convenience. Ultimately I'd like to put down roots where people beat their wives quietly. Mission hills is my second choice. Maybe thats why DM is my first choice its permanently out of my reach.

Another really funny thing about the whole experience was her claim that she already had two offers, one in and one coming on the place, over 1 million. Since it seems like nothing is moving in Sea Point I find multiple offers very strange.

I pretty much find most of NP a blue collar dump whose claims of gentrification ring hollow. People who make those sorts of claims have never paid attention to the back side of a nasty economic downturn. There are lots of beautiful homes built in SE Los Angeles during the 30's. How many of those areas would any of us live in?

Yes those are the ones I was thinking of.

Seeing them together always makes me want to go to confession.

As a resident of North Park, I can see where you would say that.

Mission Hills has that old money element that I find so weirdly stimulating.

It is interesting to look at the large homes in MH and compare them to Hillcrest.

The HC houses are chopped up from the 30s to become boarding houses. The MH houses are still in one piece.

As a professional it is a kick to review.

I often come across as very down on NP. Its not that its a bad place, I actually would live in certain small areas; its that its so very expensive for what it is. I find myself walking to Hillcrest for everything, because NP doesn't offer that much.

As to the pair, I wouldn't have expressed the emotion that way but I would say that I got a very raw sexual response from the two. Very disconcerting when all I wanted to do was see the condo. Not their fault, unless it was intentionally cultivated, which I am not sure it wasn't.

anyone know their website? After all this talk there must be a photo to go along with the story.

I only know them from bumping into them. Hard to forget.

Could this be the team? The daughter is hot, can't tell if she has blue eyes though. Del Mar is in their territory ...

Um no. I find it creepy that you all want pics. There is a whole internet out there full of 19 years, most of them not wearing clothing. I was just describing, ever so comically, the experience I had on saturday at an open house.

Oh relax. I'm female and straight. Your the one who brought up aesthetics.

Whatever dude, you are the one perving on a 19 year old girl at an open house. Pot meet kettle ...

I think the thread needs pic's of Dan and sdr to see who really is the ugliest realtor. Isn't that the point?

Submitted by Cosmo31 on September 2, 2008 - 4:26pm.

Maybe a poll should be included.

Actually, no, please don't include a poll. That would mean Piggington turned into something I never wanted it to: a place to rate the hottness of realtors. Then it would be the hottness of engineers.. truly terrifying.

At least it would be on-topic!

Fess up. Are you a graduate of the old FC board?

Submitted by poorgradstudent on September 3, 2008 - 9:50am.

In life ugly people usually have to work harder for what they get. So yeah, you'd probably have a better experience overall with a less attractive realtor.

Ah, the common misconception that beauty and brains can't coexist in the same body.

Palin will be fighting a losing battle on that one! haha!

Naw, but that meme has grown far past any single board. I see it everywhere nowadays. I suppose it has jumped the shark, and for that, I am sorry for using it. I was actually just curious if anyone on piggington would know it.

Submitted by sdrealtor on September 3, 2008 - 11:04am.

I had a company on FC once.

Hey that might be the basis for a good screenplay.

"Two women real estate agents take out frustrations on nerds asking too many questions about the houses they are showing, etc".

Make Sharon Stone the mother and Lindsay Lohan the daughter.
