Commenting about one's spelling within a thread is nit picky. But, generating a new topic to point it out ?

I sure hope this doesn't happen alot.

All in favor of spellcheck in the forums? Raise your hand.

"raises hand"

I don't understand why everyone gets their panties wrinkled over stuff like this anyway. It's a forum, people type fast and do not check their spelling, big deal..

If you use Firefox, it underlines misspellings in red as you type them. A useful feature.

"We except MasterCard and Visa....'

I see that on eBay occasionally. Makes me wonder what their other exceptions are.

Funny thread. However, we often discuss very serious matters here, but if you write "alot" or "reciept," or confuse accept with except, principle with principal, to with too, do with due, sale with sell, fomerly with formally, its with it's, affect with effect, etc., etc., it's very hard for others to take your writings seriously!

I always double check what I write before clicking on the submit button. It's a simple matter of courtesy: If you expect others to read what you've written, the least you can do is read your own post once before you submit it.

Spanish is my first language, but that's no excuse for not trying to write well. Heck, even nine-year olds can write properly if they apply themselves!

(/Rant off, and apologies for any grammar or spelling mistakes I may have made.)

Can there be an exception for posts after 11:00 pm. I frequently drink and type after eleven, who am I kidding, I always drink and type once it is dark outside. Sometimes my best stuff comes when I can no longer safely operate the cut and paste to MS word for spell checking. Art and Science cannot be blended without wine.

the necessary alchemy

precludes use of spellcheck, or a conscience which actually gives a darnation about typos...

may your home keys forever nestle orderly-like beneath your finger pads...

I learned Spanish as a second language. Sometimes I find myself spelling words according to the rules for Spanish that are not even Spanish & Inglish cognates or are cognates but end up with a hybrid spelling and, therefore are incorrect in two languages. Inglish sounds just like English if you know how to pronounce the letter i in Spanish.Ingles, amazingly enough , starts with the same letter. I also just goof up a lot of words. Today on the Abott link I spelled article, "artical", That is not a typo, that is the brain typing a sound using an arrangement of letters that is legit for the same sound in other words. Perhaps it is early onset of something?

to-too, to easy too mess up.

Forget punctuation. That's not fair. I am already an overachiever for a realtor, that is, since I came to Piggington's and learned about the spell check icon.
